Il contenuto essenziale dell’insegnamento in oggetto consiste nello studio critico dei fenomeni socio-giuridici, così come essi si presentano, all’osservazione esterna, sotto forma di fatti collettivi e, allo stesso tempo, di comportamenti individuali.
Di conseguenza, le principali linee di studio verranno individuate nell’analisi
1. del Diritto come autonomo sistema sociale, delle sue componenti interne , dei suoi rapporti con altri sistemi e con l’ambiente esterno.
2. dei diversi tipi di Azione sociale che, in riferimento o in violazione delle norme giuridiche, gli attori sociali pongono in essere in base alle diverse motivazioni ad agire e ai diversi significati soggettivi attribuiti alle proprie condotte.

Conoscenza e capacità di comprensione
Apprendimento di teorie, principi, concetti, nozioni, metodi e tecniche di indagine elaborati nell’ambito della tradizione sociologico-giuridica contemporanea e otto-novecentesca.

L’insegnamento presuppone che lo studente abbia correttamente acquisito nozioni fondamentali di cultura generale (ad esempio, conoscenze storiche e concetti-base dell’analisi socio-politica).

La didattica verrà erogata prevalentemente in modo frontale con ampia possibilità di interazione docente\studente, in funzione di approfondimento critico, dibattito e richiesta di chiarimenti e avvalendosi possibilmente di supporti e attrezzature tecniche utili a rappresentare (icono-)graficamente concetti e teorie esposte.
La frequenza è altamente consigliata.

L’apprendimento viene verificato valutando l’effettiva acquisizione dei concetti base della materia; la capacità di approfondimento critico; la capacità espositiva, l’impegno e la motivazione dimostrati, eventualmente valutati in funzione del complessivo percorso formativo e personale dello studente.
Criteri di valutazione.
Mancato superamento dell’esame: il candidato non raggiunge nessuno dei risultati descritti al punto “Obiettivi formativi”
18-21: livello sufficiente di preparazione, in termini di conoscenza e comprensione della disciplina, capacità di analisi e di interpretazione
22-24: livello pienamente sufficiente di preparazione, in termini di conoscenza e comprensione della disciplina, capacità di analisi e di interpretazione
25-26: livello buono di preparazione, in termini di conoscenza e comprensione della disciplina, capacità di analisi e di interpretazione.
27-29: livello molto buono di preparazione, in termini di conoscenza e comprensione della disciplina, capacità di analisi e di interpretazione.
30-30 e lode: livello eccellente di preparazione, in termini di conoscenza e comprensione della disciplina, , capacità di restituire le competenze acquisite in forma chiara, lineare e ragionata.

Non ci sono propedeuticità relative al seguente corso. Tuttavia è consigliabile aver sostenuto almeno un esame di sociologia. In caso contrario si invita lo studente a contattare il docente per valutare il livello di conoscenze di base e concordare le dovute integrazioni

The course of Sociology of Law aims at providing a critical analysis of social phenomena as they emerge in the forms of collective facts and individual behaviors.
As a consequence, the course will analyze:
the concept of Law as a social system, its internal components (i.e. the subsystems and their particular way to operate), its relationship with other social systems and with the ‘social environment’.
the notion of Social Action and of legal Action (i.e. typology of action and different individual motives to act).

Knowledge and understanding 
The student shall acquire a sufficient knowledge of the theories, the principals, the methodology of classical sociological and Jurisprudence tradition.
The course aims to provide a capacity of process the basic concepts of the sociological and legal culture in order to better understand the social system where the student lives and acts. The skills that are requested are ability to describe, to understand and to predict essential social dynamics occurred in everyday life
2) Applying knowledge and understanding
The aim of the Course is to offer the heuristic instruments aimed to analyze macro and micro dimension of social reality.

3) Making judgments 
The student shall demonstrate the capacity to link information related to persons and events, and capacity to raise problems and understand simple and complex social facts

4) Communication skills 
The student shall demonstrate communication skills in the exposition of topics and the ability to use specific lexicon and vocabulary of the discipline.
5) Learning skills
The aim of course is to offer a scientific method for studying, aimed to define the sociological concept and then to identify its main structural and functional characteristics.

At the beginning of the course the student must have a good level of general education such as to be able to face the study of social and legal problems in an Italian and international context.
Prerequisites are not required.

The teaching methods include lectures, seminars, exercises, study groups and debates on the main themes of the program.
During the lectures and seminars, the Professor can use slides and other multimedia and /or audio-visual materials, graphic simulations on blackboard, as didactic support.
Attendance is not mandatory, but it is recommended.

The Course provides a final exam on the full programme of coursework.
The evaluation of the candidate will be held through an oral interview for which the score is expressed in grades from 1 to 30.
The minimum score to pass the exam is 18/30. To get a passing grade the student has to demonstrate that he/she has reached the "Training objectives", i.e. the student must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the exam programme. The oral test consists of an interview made up of minimum four questions about the specific topics of the program and aims to verify the knowledge acquired by the student.

Evaluation criteria.
Candidate failed the exam: the candidate does not achieve any of the results described in the "Training objectives" section.
18-21: sufficient level of knowledge and understanding of the discipline, capacity for analysis and interpretation.
22-24: more than sufficient level of knowledge and understanding of the discipline, capacity for analysis and interpretation.
25-26: good level of knowledge and understanding of the discipline, capacity for analysis and interpretation.
27-29: very good level of knowledge and understanding of the discipline, capacity for analysis and interpretation.
30-30 cum laude: excellent level of knowledge and understanding of the discipline, ability to analyze and interpret social phenomena, ability to communicate his/her conclusions clearly and unambiguously and its rationale underpinning.

There are no prerequisites for the following course. However, it is advisable to have taken at least one exam in sociology. Otherwise, the student is invited to contact the teacher to evaluate the level of basic knowledge and agree on the necessary integrations.
