    ARCHITETTURA GENERALE E MODELLI: Classificazione dei computer. Elementi di
    rappresentazione dell’informazione e modelli (Turing, Von Neumann).
    PARTE SECONDA: COMPONENTI HARDWARE (9 ore)
    COMPONENTI FONDAMENTALI: Il processore. Le memorie. I bus.
    LE PERIFERICHE: Classificazione e gestione delle periferiche. Cenni sul funzionamento.
    MEMORIE SECONDARIE: Organizzazione delle memorie secondarie. Caratteristiche delle
    memorie secondarie.
    PARTE TERZA: COMPONENTI SOFTWARE (6 ore)
    IL SOFTWARE DI SISTEMA: La percezione del software da parte dell’utente. Classificazione
    del software. Il sistema operativo. L’interfacciamento hardware/software. Le utilità di sistema.
    Gestione del sistema operativo. Cenni sui sistemi distribuiti.
    IL SOFTWARE APPLICATIVO: Elaboratori di testi. Editoria elettronica e web. I fogli elettronici.
    Le basi di dati. Documenti compositi. Applicazioni del cloud computing.
    PARTE QUARTA: LE RETI DI CALCOLATORI (9 ore)
    LE RETI: Le reti di calcolatori. Applicazioni principali. Principali problematiche.

    FIRST PART: FUNDAMENTALS OF ARCHITECTURES (6 hours)
    INTRODUCTION: Computer in the daily experience of common users. Computer Science: its perception and its actual nature. A view on information systems.
    GENERAL ORGANIZATION AND MODELS: Classification of computers. Elements of information representation and models (Turing, Von Neumann).
    SECOND PART: HARDWARE COMPONENTS (9 hours)
    BASIC COMPONENTS: CPU. Memory. Bus.
    PERIPHERALS: Classification and management of peripherals. Principles of operations.
    SECONDARY MEMORY: Organization of secondary memory. Characteristics of secondary memory.
    THIRD PART: SOFTWARE (6 hours)
    SYSTEM SOFTWARE: Users' perception of software. Classification

    Mangement of the operating system. Elements on distributed systems.
    APPLICATION SOFTWARE: Word processors. Digital and web publishing. Spreadsheets.

    NETWORKS: Computer networks. Main applications. Main themes.
    COMPUTER NETWORKS ORGANIZATION: Classification of networks. Structure and

    Course objectives

    THE GOAL OF THE COURSE IS TO PROVIDE THE STUDENTS THE MAIN ELEMENTS NEEDED TO UNDERSTAND GENERAL ASPECTS OF COMPUTER SYSTEMS AND THEIR APPLICATION TO THE FIELD OF INTEREST OF THE CURRICULUM, WITH A SPECIAL FOCUS ON METHODOLOGICAL ISSUES
