Inglese-Arabo

Nell’ambito dell’insegnamento di Arabic for International Relations, si presterà particolare attenzione al Diplomacy Arabic.
Gli studenti si avvicineranno alla terminologia utile al settore in oggetto sia in Inglese che in Arabo.
I principianti studieranno gli elementi fondamentali della lingua araba, mentre i non principianti approfondiranno le conoscenze e le abilità già in proprio possesso, con una particolare attenzione alla scrittura.
Per gli studenti-lavoratori iscritti ai Progetti di Formazione verranno individuati contenuti qualitativamente adeguati alla natura peculiare dei destinatari.

Principianti:
Il materiale di studio sarà consigliato agli studenti non frequentanti, mentre agli altri verrà distribuito durante le lezioni.

Per gli studenti-lavoratori iscritti ai Progetti di Formazione verranno individuati testi di riferimento specifici in base anche alle esigenze lavorative degli stessi.

Conoscenza e capacità di comprensione (knowledge and understanding).
Lo studente dovrà dimostrare di conoscere e comprendere le nozioni linguistico-culturali studiate, nonché di aver acquisito competenze equiparabili almeno ai livelli A1/A2 (i principianti) e B1/B2 del QCER (i non principianti).


Conoscenza e capacità di comprensione applicate (applied knowledge and understanding).
Lo studente dovrà dimostrare di saper avvicinarsi al mondo arabo con spirito critico e interagire culturalmente con le società arabe, assai variegate al proprio interno, così da risolvere eventuali situazioni di crisi tanto nel quotidiano che nel settore lavorativo quanto in ambiti di più ampio respiro relativi al corso di studio intrapreso.

Autonomia di giudizio  (making judgements).
Lo studente dovrà dimostrare un’autonomia di giudizio e una dimestichezza con elementi linguistico-culturali tali da riuscire a gestire una certa varietà di situazioni anche quando le informazioni in suo possesso siano limitate.

Abilità comunicative (communication skills).
Lo studente dovrà dimostrare di comunicare quanto appreso e le proprie conclusioni sia a un interlocutore specialista sia a uno non specialista.


Capacità di apprendere (learning skills).
Lo studente dimostrerà di aver acquisito gli strumenti per proseguire autonomamente nello studio degli argomenti proposti.

L'insegnamento è destinato a studenti principianti e non.
Per i non principianti è richiesto il possesso del livello A1/A2, che verrà verificato nel corso di un colloquio.

Le attività didattiche saranno strutturate come segue:
lezioni frontali (36 ore), di cui almeno un terzo sarà costituito da esercitazioni in aula imperniate, tra l'altro, sulla lettura, analisi e redazione di testi.
Gli studenti svolgeranno in autonomia attività di 20 ore sulla piattaforma Rosetta Stone (https://www.unicampania.it/index.php/indexphp/corsi-di-lingua-rosetta-stone).
Per gli studenti-lavoratori iscritti ai Progetti di Formazione si terranno seminari didattici integrativi.

L’esame consisterà in una prova orale.
Tuttavia, per gli studenti-lavoratori iscritti ai Progetti di Formazione, la prova di esame è scritta od orale, a scelta dello studente, strutturata come da linee-guida dedicate.

Gli esaminandi daranno prova di sapersi orientare sugli argomenti trattati durante il corso
e su quelli approfonditi autonomamente.
Nella formulazione del giudizio finale troveranno applicazione i seguenti criteri di valutazione:
• Mancato superamento dell’esame: il candidato non raggiunge alcun obiettivo formativo;
• Da 18 a 21: Livello sufficiente. Il candidato raggiunge, in particolare, i risultati previsti al punto “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione”;
• Da 22 a 24: Livello pienamente sufficiente. Il candidato raggiunge, in particolare, i risultati di apprendimento previsti ai punti “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione” e “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione applicate”;
• Da 25 a 26: Livello buono. Il candidato raggiunge i risultati di apprendimento previsti ai punti “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione”, “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione applicate” e “autonomia di giudizio”;
• Da 27 a 29: Livello molto buono. Il candidato raggiunge i risultati di apprendimento previsti ai punti “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione”, “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione applicate”, “autonomia di giudizio”, e “abilità comunicative”;
• Da 30 a 30 e lode: Livello eccellente. Il candidato raggiunge pienamente i risultati di apprendimento previsti ai punti “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione”, “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione applicate”,“autonomia di giudizio”, “abilità comunicative” e “capacità di apprendere”.

Sono previste lezioni di lettorato con C.E.L. madrelingua.
La frequenza non è obbligatoria, ma consigliata.

Argomenti grammaticali per studenti principianti:
alfabeto; determinazione; il nome (sostantivi e aggettivi); genere e numero, declinazioni; pronomi personali; il dimostrativo; stato costrutto; frase nominale e frase verbale; coniugazione del verbo trilittero regolare; modi di rendere il verbo “avere”; i numerali; particelle interrogative; introduzione al verbo “kàna” e le sue sorelle (CFU 3).
Testi ed esercizi riguardanti Arabic for International Relations e Diplomacy Arabic (CFU 3).

Per eventuali studenti non principianti, sulla base delle conoscenze pregresse, potrà essere approntato un programma specifico (CFU 6).
Ugualmente per gli studenti-lavoratori summenzionati.

English-Arabic

Within the framework of Arabic for International Relations, special focus will be but on Diplomacy Arabic.
Students will approach the useful vocabulary both in English and Arabic to deal with this field.
Beginners will study the essentials of Arabic Language, while non-beginners will deepen their prior knowledge and skills, with a specific stress on writing skills.
Qualitatively appropriate contents will be provided for working students involved in specific programmes.

Beginners:
Material will be suggested to non-attending students, and distributed during the lessons.
Beginners and non-beginners:
Vocabulary: E. Kendall, Y.A. Mohamed, Diplomacy Arabic, Edinburgh, Edinburgh University Press 2020, pp. 96 (includes online audio files).
On the basis of their work needs, special texts will be provided for working students involved in specific programmes.

Knowledge and understanding. Students shall demonstrate knowledge and understanding founded on the study of the language-based and culture-based notions and topics included in the syllabus. Beginners are required to achieve competence in at least A1/A2 levels within the CEFR, whilst non-beginners are supposed to achieve competence in the B1/B2 levels within the CEFR.

Applied knowledge and understanding.
Students shall demonstrate that they can approach the Arab world critically, and interact on a cultural ground with the diversified Arab societies so as to solve possible critical situations both in the daily life and in a job context as well as in broader contexts related to their field of study.
Making judgements.
Students shall demonstrate that they can make judgements and have appropriate knowledge of language-based and culture-based issues so as to handle various situations even with limited or incomplete information.


Communication skills.
Students shall demonstrate that they are able to communicate either the acquired knowledge or conclusions to specialist and non specialist audiences.


Learning skills.
Students shall demonstrate the achievement of adequate learning skills so as to continue to study the topics included in the syllabus in an autonomous manner, and to deepen their knowledge.

The course is for beginners and non-beginners.
Non-beginners are required A1/A2 levels within the CEFR, which will be tested during an interview.

Teaching activities will be structured as follows: 36 hours of frontal teaching method; at least 12 teaching hours will be devoted to in-classroom exercise focusing on, e.g., the reading, the analysis and writing of texts.
20 hours of self-study on Rosetta Stone (https://www.unicampania.it/index.php/indexphp/corsi-di-lingua-rosetta-stone) are mandatory.
Integrative teaching seminars will be held for working students involved in specific programmes.

The exam consists in an oral assessment.
Nonetheless, working students involved in special programmes can choose either an oral or a written exam, which will be structured following the devoted guidelines.

Examinees shall demonstrate their ability when confronting the topics studied during the classes and those deepened autonomously.
The examination final score will be based on the following criteria: • Fail: the examinee has not achieved any of the training objectives; • 18 to 21: sufficient level. In particular, the examinee has achieved the learning outcomes of the “knowledge and understanding” descriptor; 22 to 24: fairly good level. In particular, the examinee has achieved the learning outcomes of the “knowledge and understanding” and “applied knowledge and understanding” descriptors; 25 to 26: good level. In particular, the examinee has achieved the learning outcomes of the “knowledge and understanding”, “applied knowledge and understanding”, and “making judgements” descriptors; 27 to 29: very good level. The examinee has achieved the learning outcomes of the “knowledge and understanding”, “applied knowledge and understanding”, “making judgements”, and “communication skills” descriptors; 30 to 30 with honors: excellent level. The examinee has achieved the learning outcomes of the “knowledge and understanding”, “applied knowledge and understanding”, “making judgements”, “communication skills”, and “learning skills” descriptors.

Further teaching activities include lessons held by a professional mother-tongue “C.E.L.” (linguistic expert).
Attendance in not mandatory but recommended.

Grammar for beginners:
alphabet; the definite article; definite/indefinite nouns and adjectives; gender and number of nouns and adjectives; noun and adjective inflection; personal pronouns; demonstratives; annexation (“idàfah”); nominal sentence; verbal sentence; conjugation of the triliteral regular verb; how to express “to have” in Arabic; numerals; interrogative particles; introducing the verb “kàna” and its sisters; relative pronouns and relative clause; introducing the augmented verb forms (3 university credits).
Reading texts and exercises focusing on Arabic for International Relations and Diplomacy (3 university credits).

A specific language-based and of Arabic for International Relations and Diplomacy (6 university credits) programme will be recommended to non-beginners, and the above mentioned working students as well.
