    Contenuti

    Il corso è articolato in due parti.
    La prima parte è incentrata sull’approfondimento delle competenze linguistiche in lingua inglese in quattro ambiti (reading, listening, writing, speaking) finalizzato al raggiungimento del livello B2 (QCER).
    La seconda parte consiste in: una presentazione dei principali aspetti teorici e discorsivi riguardanti i linguaggi del turismo e della pubblicità; ed un’introduzione all’analisi linguistica e culturale di una varietà di testi turistici e pubblicitari contemporanei autentici.

    Obiettivi formativi

    L’obiettivo del corso è di porre lo studente in condizione di interagire, in maniera corretta e confacente ai parametri europei, in ambiti professionali inerenti al corso di studio. Lo studente dovrà essere in grado di comprendere un testo specifico di media difficoltà, di produrre dei discorsi semplici e coerenti e argomentare in maniera corretta. Gli obiettivi formativi specifici del corso sono stabiliti sulla base delle indicazioni del Quadro Comune Europeo di Riferimento per la conoscenza delle lingue (QCER, livello B2). Particolare attenzione sarà riservata alle strutture linguistiche e al lessico specialistico promozionale e turistico, con l’obiettivo finale di fornire allo studente gli strumenti indispensabili alla comprensione e alla rielaborazione autonoma di
    testi settoriali. Il corso mira, altresì, a evidenziare l’interconnessione tra la lingua, la civiltà e la cultura di un popolo, e a fornire strategie di apprendimento che aiutino lo studente a rendersi progressivamente autonomo nello studio della lingua.

    Metodologie didattiche

    Il corso si svolge mediante lezioni frontali e con supporto informatico.

    Le attività in aula saranno volte prevalentemente a sviluppare le capacità di decodificazione di diversi testi di natura turistica e promozionale in lingua inglese e l’acquisizione del lessico specialistico di base. Particolare attenzione sarà riservata alla comunicazione orale.

    Metodi di valutazione

    L’esame si articola in una prova scritta e in una prova orale. L’accesso alla prova orale è subordinato al superamento della prova scritta.

    La prova scritta consiste in quesiti di varia natura volti a verificare le competenze linguistiche del candidato.

    La prova orale consiste nella discussione e nell’applicazione degli strumenti teorici e metodologici approfonditi durante il corso.

    The course is divided into two parts.
    The first part is devoted to the development of English language skills in four areas (reading, listening, writing, speaking) with the purpose of achieving the B2 level (CEFR).
    The second part is concerned with the main theoretical and discursive aspects of the specialised languages of tourism and advertising; and the linguistic and cultural analysis of a range of authentic contemporary tourism and advertising texts.

    Course objectives

    The module aims to develop students’ communicative competence in English in diverse professional fields. Students will be able to understand different kinds of texts and interact correctly at an intermediate (B2) level. The specific educational objectives are fixed on the recommendations of the CEFR
    (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Particular emphasis will be placed on the acquisition of language structures and specialised tourism and advertising vocabulary, with the aim of providing students with the necessary tools to understand and study a variety of specialised texts. The module also aims at enhancing students’ awareness of the deep interconnection between language and culture, and providing them with self-study language learning strategies

    None.

    Teaching methods

    The course is delivered through lectures with the support of computer and audio-visual devices.

    Classroom activities will mainly aim at developing skills for the visual and textual analysis of tourist and promotional texts in English and the acquisition of the basic specialised lexicon. Oral communication will be privileged.

    Evaluation methods

    The exam is divided into a written test and an oral examination. The oral examination is held upon successful completion of the written test.

    The written test includes a variety of question types aimed at assessing the student’s language proficiency.

    The oral examination includes the discussion and usage of the theoretical and methodological tools studied throughout the course.

    Attendance is not mandatory but highly recommended.
